Service to Others....Through Christ, You can Make a Difference!

Share and Care Summer Camp is a week long camp sponsored by Stronghold Camp, Shelter Care Ministries, the Rockford School District and a coalition of Rockford Area Presbyterian Churches (including Westminster). Camp will bring children with no permanent housing to Stronghold for a week filled with all the typical, fun camp activities: swimming, nature study, hiking, group games, Bible Study, campfires and friendship. There are many ways you can assist this new ministry! People are needing during the week to assist with meals, craft helpers, laundry helpers, horse ranch helper and most importantly! prayer support. Background checks are required. Be a sponsor! $210.00 will send one child to camp for 6 days and 5 nights, 16 meals, 10 snacks, housing in the Castle, supplies, camp tee shirt and experienced camp counselors. Checks should payable to "Stronghold Camp" or contact the Stronghold office (815-732-6111) to arrange for a credit card payment.

Prepare a lunch for the homeless at Carpenter's Place one day each month. You are needed to prepare, transport or serve food! This is a unique opportunity to both feed the hungry and build community with our brothers and sisters who serve at Carpenter's Place. You can serve by helping with the evening preparation as well as serving during the day. Call the church office-282-1500 for more info.

Mission Trip! In July, a team from Westminster will travel to the border region of Mexico to assist local Presbyterians as they host Vacation Bible School. More information is available by calling the office at 815-282-1500.

Rock River Valley Food Pantry
NEED increases! How about picking up a can of Chunky Soup-it makes a whole meal for someone. (Peanut butter and cereal are also great selections). Place in the “brick” barrel in the coat room at the Bell School Road Entrance. A second container for food donations is now located in the coat room at the Spring Creek entrance. Also needed are large paper grocery sacks. Many, many, thanks!! To know more details about the pantry ask Hank and Bette Curran. They are frequent volunteers.

Westminster supports a variety of local organizations that also welcome volunteers.
Help Needed! We need volunteers to help serve at coffee hour. Due to the increased number of people here at our new building we are now needing 4 volunteers each week. That means we need twice as many as we had on Rural Street. Won’t you please sign up to help? The job isn’t difficult. We have 2 men who faithfully show up every week who make the coffee and pour the juice. You would need to set things on the table, cut the donuts, serve the coffee and then clean up. With four people, the job goes quickly and isn’t difficult. Won’t you please volunteer? Thank you, Hospitality Commission. To volunteer, contact Janet at 815-282-1500 ext. 14

The Children’s Clothes Closet is in need of good, used clothing (infants thru sz.14) In short supply right now are winter coats, size 3 girls clothing, and short sleeved t-shirts. There is a wicker trunk located at the Spring Creek entrance stairway.

The Nelson School Task Team of Westminster has supported the school for over 10 years! Some of the accomplishments are:
providing tutors...landscaping...providing warm clothing and shoes...purchase bilingual books...provide volunteers for school events...school supplies...teacher appreciation activity...purchased PE equipment!
The Task Team is in need of volunteers and leadership. Please consider serving on this worthwhile ministry. contact Olyva Liddell at 637-6510 to help.
