Executive functions are the cognitive abilities needed to control our thoughts, emotions, and actions. It aims to increase understanding of how these functions develop, their role and their impact on a person’s social, emotional and intellectual life, from early childhood to adulthood. Executive functions gradually develop and change across the lifespan of an individual and can be improved at any time over the course of a person’s life.
The executive functions are a set of processes that all have to do with managing oneself and one’s resources to achieve a goal. 1. Inhibition – The ability to stop one’s behaviour at the appropriate time, including stopping actions and thoughts. 2. Shift – The ability to move freely from one situation to another and to think flexibly to respond appropriately to the situation. 5. Working memory – The capacity to hold information in mind for the purpose of completing a task. (Robin could not keep the dates of the reunion in her head long enough to put them on the calendar after her initial phone call from Aunt Sue.)
6. Planning/Organization – The ability to manage current and future- oriented task demands. (In this case, Robin lacked the ability to systematically think about what the family would need to be ready for the trip and to get to the intended place at the intended time with their needs cared for along the way.)
7. Organization of Materials – The ability to impose order on work, play, and storage spaces. (It was Robin’s job to organize the things needed for the trip. However, she just piled things into the car rather than systematically making checklists and organizing things so important items would be easily accessible so that the space would be used efficiently, and so that people and “stuff” would be orderly and comfortable in the car.)
8. Self-Monitoring – The ability to monitor one’s performance and to measure it against some standard of what is needed or expected. (Despite the fact that they’re off to Missouri without knowing how to get there, with almost no planning for what will happen along the way, and without a map, Robin does not understand why her husband is so upset.)

The parish nurse delivers holistic, health-promoting and preventive care that is based on the concept of mind, body, and spiritual well-being. The roles of the parish nurse include being an educator, advocate, health counselor, resource coordinator, referral agent, and an integrator of faith and health.

Hospital Care: The Caring staff extends compassionate ministry and prayer to those who are hospitalized through personal visitation in the area’s hospitals. Recent changes in the law have limited the information hospitals can give to those requesting information about patients, so it is necessary to contact the Main Office to report any admissions or surgical procedures. Visits are normally made within 48 hours of the notification, but quicker response is offered if there is an emergency.
Stephen Ministers : are specially-trained to provide one-on-one Christian care with confidentiality and accountability, undergoing 50 hours of intense training to develop listening skills, crisis intervention and learn how to minister to others in specific situations such as illness and grief. They are also trained when to refer someone to a skilled professional.

Prayer Quilt Ministry: Each quilt or square is designed and constructed with prayer for the person who will receive that particular quilt. What ever the circumstances are, they ask for the Lord’s blessing in those circumstances. Prayer quilts/squares are completely constructed by the loving hands of our finest quilters, but it’s not finished until it has been blessed by the Reverend and prayed over by the congregation. As the knots are tied on the quilt, prayers are said for the person and family who will receive the quilt.
